Guidance On Strength Of Health

Keep your body healthy and strong by following these healthy lifestyle guidelines.

Sitting too much? Being sedentary can exacerbate back pain, increase the risk of some cancers, and lead to a lessened quality of life. On the other hand, people who get more than 5 hours of exercise per week have a 40% lower risk for heart disease and cancer.

Not getting enough sleep? Research shows that people who sleep less than 5 hours per night are more likely to be overweight than those who get seven or more hours per night.

Do you have a poor diet? People who eat more fruits and vegetables are healthier and live longer than those who don’t. Other research has shown that each additional daily serving of fruits and vegetables reduces the risk of cancer by 4%, while each additional daily serving of red meat increases it by 3%.

Do people who take prescription drugs have better health and longer lives? People who take cholesterol-lowering statin drugs are less likely to die early from any cause. They may also have better overall health, a lower risk of developing dementia and live longer than non-users. In addition, people who use statins have a 35% reduction in the risk of having an ischemic heart disease event.

Are you obese? ! People who are obese have a 40% higher risk of dying early than their regular weight counterparts.

Do you smoke or use other tobacco products? People who smoke have a higher risk of developing cancer and other diseases than people who never smoked. The health risks associated with smoking increase exponentially as a person smokes more daily cigarettes or packs yearly.

Do you abuse alcohol or other drugs? People who abuse alcohol are three times more likely to die prematurely than those who do not. Research shows that a high level of alcohol consumption is associated with an increased risk of death from all causes, fatal injuries and accidents, liver cirrhosis, cancers, and sexual dysfunction.

Do you have high blood pressure? High blood pressure (hypertension) is the most common risk factor for premature death in the United States.
